Bara

Bara is a town in Federally Administered Tribal Areas in Pakistan.

Location:

This town is located at the Latitude ¬†of 33¬į 55‚Ä≤ ¬†North and Longitude of¬†71¬į 27‚Ä≤ East.¬†The mud fort is visible on Google Earth at 33¬į 54′ 53″ by 71¬į 28′ 05″, lying alongside a water tank and the¬†Bara River¬†which eventually flows to the East of Peshawar.

It is located in Bara Tehsil in Khyber Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Pakistan. To the south is Kohat district and to the north Peshawar.

History:

From the era of the Raj the town has held a fort and supplied water to Peshawar. Bara is also the name of the local administrative division Bara Tehsil of the Khyber Agency within the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan, of which Bara Town is the administrative seat.

People of Bara:

The town is ethnically Pashtuns, and has been the site of increasing militancy by Lashkar-e-Islam against the central government.
