Muridke

Muridke is a city in the province Punjab of Pakistan. It is a major commercial city and headquarters of Muridke Tehsil in Shaikhupura District in Punjab.

Location:

It is situated near the city of Lahore, Pakistan at an elevation of 205 m (675 ft). It is situated on Latitude of 3145’34.920″N and Longitude of 7350’16.080″E. It is situated on the famous Grand Trunk Road and at the crossroads to Shaikhupur, Kala Shah kaku, Gujranwala, Narang Mandi and Narowal. It is situated 217 km from Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Population:

It is a populated city having population of 164,292 persons.

Dargah:

Dargah of famous saint Miran Saaid Muhammad Kazmi is also located at village Alla Pur Syeddan, near Narang, Tehsil muridke.

Hospital:

Muridke has a tehsil headquarters hospital at GT road.

Crops:

It is an agricultural area. Its famous agricultural crops are rice and wheat.

Economy:

The people of this city mostly depends upon agriculture as the area of this city are fertile and gives so many crops. The economic and social life of the city, which has three police stations and a rail station, mainly depends on Lahore.

History:

In 2005 Muridke became the headquarters of the newly created Muridke Tehsil of Sheikhupura District. The main offices of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba and Markaz Ad-Dawa-wal-Irshad groups are located in Muridke.
